All of Mankind – Community Events

Art Activations and Public Events

Art + Impact

Chicago interdisciplinary artist Kiki McGrath and students from the teen summer program, Art + Impact with After School Matters gathered in front of the Stranger’s Home MB church, the site of Willam Walker’s All of Mankind mural, to collaborate on a project in charcoal depicting the building as it stands today while remembering its past.

Rhythm of the Community

All ages came together at the Near North Library for an afternoon of arts and crafts lead by the Art + Impact teens to honor and reimagine William Walker’s All of Mankind mural. One of the projects completed was a community recreation of the mural that will be on display at the Near North branch.

Sister Neighborhoods

Art on Sedgwick celebrated Bastille Day in Old Town as part of the Sister Neighborhoods celebration, honoring the artistic roots of our own community and of our sister neighborhood, Montmartre in Chicago’s sister city, Paris. Neighbors who stopped by were treated to an afternoon of painters, fun-filled creativity including a caricature artist and the opportunity to connect with the community.

Poetry Smash Book

Several lucky neighbors assembled in the Art on Sedgwick studio for a hands on workshop to create a poetry smash book inspired by the work of Chicago artists William Walker and Edgar Miller.
