Kite Flying Announcement!

Hey Old Town! You are all invited to join students from Manierre, Catherine Cook, and Franklin Fine Arts Center as they share their personal stories with the rest of the world!

Tomorrow Friday, May 19th students and community members from the three Old Town schools will get together to fly the kites they built as part of the My Street My Voice Our Story Art project.

This project, led by Art on Sedgwick’s artist in residence Cecil McDonald Jr, is a multimedia, interactive project aimed at students creating their own stories and, together, telling the story of Old Town. Students were paired up with a student from a different school. They interviewed each other and took pictures of each other. The interviews and pictures were then used as the building material to assemble a kite. The kite serves as an embodiment of each student’s story.
Tomorrow, students from the three schools will get together at Franklin Fine Arts Center to fly their kites. Cecil will be taking an aerial photograph as all the kites, and stories, are flown together. Please come out and join Art on Sedgwick and the Old Town Community as we celebrate the embodiment of the My Street My Voice Our Story art project!art on sedgwick old town community art project elementary
