Photographer & artist with residencies & exhibitions around the world. His work deals with the intersections of masculinity, familial relations, and the artistic and intellectual pursuits of black culture.

JOHN BAKKER

Painter, artist, & educator with work represented by two of Chicago’s significant galleries. Through projects that often include hundreds of painted portraits, Bakker elevates the experience of unnoticed and marginalized people.

Pierce CruzPIERCE CRUZ

Mixed media artist living and working in Chicago. Cruz’s work primarily focuses on explorations of identity in the world around him. His work has been exhibited locally and nationally. Currently, he is a resident artist at the WNDR Museum, Marshall Field Gardens Community Center, and Art on Sedgwick.

HANNAH DYKSTRA

Artist, teacher, and programming & communications manager at Art on Sedgwick. She is currently working on a graphic novel about the composer Dmitri Shostakovich and his experience in Stalinist Russia. The book explores censorship, authenticity, and the connection between public and private ways of being.

Kwabena Foli

KWABENA FOLI

Multidisciplinary xennial blk artist in visual poetics & performance and winner of the Los Angeles Review Literary Award for Poetry. He works through digital and public landscapes to address trauma, health, pop culture and social life. Kwabena will be back in Old Town this spring to lead poetry workshops in local schools for our community art project inspired by public places.
