All of Mankind – Placemaking Project

Beautifying Sedgwick Street & Our Community

This project is part of Art Design Chicago, an initiative of the Terra Foundation for American Art exploring and elevating Chicago’s rich art and design histories and diverse creative communities through exhibitions, events, and publications.
The new courtyard with community gathering space.

This summer, Art on Sedgwick is honoring William Walker’s All of Mankind by creating new public artworks outside the Marshall Field Garden Apartments. Chicago artists Sam Kirk and Gabe Moreno have been commissioned to paint a mural and design custom outdoor furniture, respectively. Neighbors, including teens and seniors, provided input on the project, reflecting on the history and cultural significance of the original murals.

Join us for the mural unveiling at the For All of Mankind Community Showcase on Friday, October 25, from 5:00-8:00 PM. Register on Eventbrite to attend.
