Artist Bill Walker had a very strong and far-reaching vision for his artwork and his life. He once said:

As an artist and leader, we invite you to develop a vision statement or manifesto for your life and artwork.

You can either write or speak into an audio recorder. Here are some reflection questions to guide your work:

  • Why does making art matter to you?
  • What do you love most about your art work?
  • What type of people would you most love to create with? Individuals, communities, types of people, etc. Be specific and tell us why.
  • What is the biggest problem humankind is facing and how do you think we can best get through this?

Although this is a short statement, make sure you are concise and clear and that you feel creative and inspired by your statement.

Send your final statement to create@artonsedgwick.org or post it on social media and tag us. (Links to our social media accounts are on the right side of the page.) We will also be sending all of you an invitation to a message group on the GroupMe app.
